NEW! Thank You, Mèsi, Merci: Whether we say it in English, Creole or French, thank you to the many people who have already pitched in to help rebuild Holy Trinity Cathedral in Haiti. Already you have donated 375 bricks toward our goal of 400 (one for every church member). If you’ve been meaning to join in, just click here. Many hands make light work, or as they say in Haiti, “Men anpil chay pa lou.” And to all of you who have already lent a hand, Mèsi. Rebuild the Church in Haiti is a national, grass-roots effort of the Episcopal Church to lift up one of our own dioceses after a year of crushing natural disasters. For more information contact Stacy Dimmich: sdimmich@clearwire.net, or go to episcopalchurch.org/haitiappeal and scroll down to the green box that says “Give.”

NEW! Bridge Ministry Dinner Volunteers Needed: We invite you to consider lending your time and heart to the Bridge Ministries Sunday Evening Celebration here at Emmanuel on Sunday, June 3. Volunteer orientation is at 3:30 p.m., and the dinner is 4-6 p.m. Bridge Ministry is a monthly dinner event for people with disabilities. Volunteers are encouraged to visit and get to know the guests as well as make their evening enjoyable. We do so in the following ways: greeting access vans; registration table; kitchen; table hosts; and servers. If you are interested in serving or for more info, please contact Christine Kenyon: christinekenyon@comcast.net or 206-778-2906. Feel free to forward this invitation to others you know who might be interested. All are welcome!

Emmanuel Invites the Entire Congregation to Contribute Food, as you are able, to Northwest Harvest. May’s feature foods are cereals and canned food. Cereals, macaroni and cheese, chili, and soups are always needed, but all non-perishable food will be accepted. Donations have declined, but demand has increased, so any and all help is appreciated. When grocery shopping remember to pick up an item for the basket located at the east and west entrances of the church building.

Island Beat Music and Nature Camp Info and Registration: Our 3rd Annual Summer Day Camp for kids ages 9-14 will occur July 16-20, 2012, here at Emmanuel. The week is about exploration and discovery: exploring rhythm, sounds, nature awareness & skills, and our own creative spirits; and discovering the natural abilities within each camper. Based on Victor Wooten’s Bass Nature Camp held annually in Nashville, TN, this day camp is designed as a week-long immersion experience for 9- to 14-year-old participants. It will inspire their imaginations and develop their musical abilities and self esteem through instruction, games, outdoor activities, reflection and informal jam sessions employing percussion, voice, instruments, and recording equipment. Registration is open now here. We have room for only 30 participants. The schedule is as follows: Monday, 6-8 p.m., Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Cost: $295; scholarships are available. For more info, go to: islandbeatmnc.org.
